This blog is about decoding the complex world of Britain’s defences and telling you what the MoD won’t say in press releases. There will be regular posts explaining equipment and kit, our defence capability and also the politics of it all.
‘No votes in defence’ is what they say; well, perhaps they’ll think again when we face another Dunkirk moment.
The state of our military is completely unacceptable, and politicians of all stripes have allowed it to deteriorate to levels that not just make us a laughing stock to our enemies but a burden to our allies.
Earlier this year, I led a national campaign calling for 5% of GDP to be spent on core defence, which received widespread coverage; now it’s time to turn up the heat on this Government.
